Historical Talk on “Old Trinity”

At the upcoming Friends of Old Trinity Church Annual Meeting, Old Trinity’s rector, Fr. Dan Dunlap, will be giving an abridged version of his May 2024 South Dorchester Folk Museum presentation about colonial church architecture, using Old Trinity Church as an example of the kind of structure that reflected the religious sensibilities of the first Europeans who arrived on these shores.

Old Trinity stands today as one of the oldest church buildings in the nation still used for regular worship. Perfectly restored in the 1950s to approximate its colonial origins, Old Trinity provides a unique window into the religious context of colonial Maryland, while also making it an interesting case study to better understand the faith that founded a nation.
